A woman in Punjab, India has died after being assaulted by her ex-husband on social network instagram.
The 26-year-old, identified as Harsha, was killed on Monday in the town of Pulwama, a village located near the border with Pakistan, the Punjab Police said in a statement.
The victim, who had been pregnant, had been living with her husband, a local police official said.
Her husband, who was not immediately identified, was allegedly involved in a fight with Harshan’s father-in-law, and had tried to restrain her from leaving the house, the police official added.
Harsha’s mother, who has not been identified, said her daughter had complained of chest pains while she was in the toilet at her home.
She then went to the nearby police station and informed the authorities, but they did not provide her any help, police official Sajid Mahmood said.
“Harshan was then taken to a hospital for treatment,” Mahmood added.
“The victim was taken to her home by her mother-inlaw to recover.”
She had gone to a police station to lodge a complaint about her husband’s behavior after she was attacked.
The police official identified the man as Hargulat Harsal, a resident of Pulwalwar.
